At Gibbons and Gibbons, our passion to help people who are injured and disabled is infectious. Through the years, Lynn Gibbons’s children have grown up around her practice, interacting with her clients and staff, and have grown to love and respect what the firm does for others.
Lynn was both surprised and delighted that three of her four children have decided to follow her path to careers as attorneys to use their talents and intellect to benefit the firm and Lynn’s clients. She has invested her efforts, love, and passion into her children over the years and knows that will pay off in spades as her children are her legacy–the future of the practice she has grown. It has been the privilege of Ms. Gibbons’ lifetime to show Katelynn, Reilly, and Delanie the ropes.
Through the years, we have relied on the support and talents of our own family members, emphasizing our mission of families helping families.
When you choose the law firm of Gibbons and Gibbons to represent you on your personal injury, worker's compensation, or Social Security Disability claim, you are choosing a true family business. This firm is Lynn’s legacy - her life’s work and the embodiment of her reason for being. She became a lawyer so that she could fight zealously for others, and she taught her children that using their God-given talents to help others who desperately need an advocate–giving them a powerful voice to help them in their time of need–is their true calling.
Our staff is comprised of our family members and professionals hand-selected by our family to form a team of caring individuals dedicated to our mission. Our Florida family is dedicated to helping your family through rough seas - connecting our clients with the resources they need to recover and get their lives back on course. We have taken great care to implement unique processes and put talent in place to streamline your case and maximize your recovery as efficiently as possible.
E. Lynn Gibbons decided to become an attorney after prevailing as the prosecuting attorney in the "Goldilocks" trial while in Mr. Tom Haight's Business Law class at Seminole High School in 1989. She earned her B.A. degree from the University of South Florida in just three years in May of 1992. Ms. Gibbons attended law school at Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida and received her Juris Doctor degree in December of 1994, becoming the first member of her family, male or female, to become an attorney in a family line that dates back to the Mayflower.
Ms. Gibbons was admitted to practice law in the State of Florida in May 1995 and proudly carried her one-year-old daughter, Katelynn, to the swearing-in ceremony. It was one of the greatest moments of her life when she watched Katie graduate from her alma mater, Stetson, 23 years to the day after she did, at the age of 23 in 2019.
Just four years later, Lynn and Katie were honored to confer the youngest Gibbons Lady Lawyer, Delanie Gibbons, her J.D. at Stetson’s 2023 Spring Commencement Ceremony. When she set her course to become a lawyer back in 1989, Lynn would never have imagined that her passion for the law would lead her to ignite a legacy of Gibbons Lady Lawyers.
In founding Gibbons and Gibbons as her former partner began her transition into retirement, Ms. Gibbons was honored to offer her oldest daughter, Katelynn, a partnership in the firm.
Ms. Gibbons has limited her practice of law to the representation of injured workers, social security disability claimants, and those injured in accidents resulting from the negligence of others. She has NEVER represented an insurance company.
She is a member of the Florida Bar, admitted in the Middle District of Florida. Ms. Gibbons is also honored to be a member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, The Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, the St. Petersburg Bar Association Workers Compensation Section, and the Workers Compensation Section of the Florida Bar. She has been Board Certified as a workers compensation specialist since 2002. Less than 1% of lawyers in the State of Florida hold this elite distinction as the criteria for certification is very stringent, and the test is challenging. Ms. Gibbons’s board certification was renewed in 2008, 2012, and again in 2018. She has been certified by the Supreme Court of Florida as a Circuit Civil Mediator since 2002. Ms. Gibbons has not lost a workers compensation trial since 2008. Her very first jury trial in a personal injury case resulted in a 2.4 million dollar verdict for her client. She has settled multiple cases for over $1,000,000.00 - most recently, a trucking accident that settled for $4,000,000.00.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio and relocating with her family to live the Florida dream beach lifestyle while in high school in 1984, Ms. Gibbons has been married to her husband, St. Petersburg native Shannon, for 30 years and has four adult children - Katie, Reilly, and twins Delanie and Dillan. Her hobbies include fishing, boating, snorkeling, cooking, entertaining, and watching college football.
Her daughter, Katie, has followed in her footsteps - earning her B.A. from U.S.F. in just two years, followed by her Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law. She has worked for the firm since she was 12 years old, going from clerical filing and stuffing envelopes to being a full charge worker's compensation paralegal for a year before law school to being a zealous attorney and advocate for her clients. Katie has taken eight workers' compensation cases to final hearing since she started working as an attorney for the firm and has yet to lose a single case. Lynn's oldest son, Reilly, played football for Stanford and then at South Florida. He graduated from U.S.F. in three years after retiring from football and attended law school at the University of Notre Dame. He earned his Juris Doctor from Notre Dame in 2020 and began practicing in civil litigation for Trenam Law. In 2022, he decided to join the family business and came to work for Lynn at her former firm. He enjoys helping the firm's personal injury and worker's compensation clients get the benefits and settlements they deserve. Lynn's youngest daughter, Delanie, earned her A.A. from St. Petersburg College at the same time as she earned her high school diploma as she went to early college. She graduated from U.S.F. with her B.A. in 2019 and went to work for the firm as a settlement specialist in the personal injury department. She earned her J.D. from Stetson University College of Law with a certificate in Elder Law in May of 2023. She is currently enrolled at the University of Miami College of Law in their L.L.M. in estate planning. Lynn's youngest son, Dillan, earned his B.S. in Management and Consulting from the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame while playing football for the Fighting Irish. He transferred to Florida State University in 2021 to earn his MBA and play his last two years of college football. Dillan was the starting left guard for the Seminoles in 2021 and 2022 and helped build a new winning culture at Florida State. In 2021, he started his own non-profit, Big Man Big Heart, Inc., to use his name, image, and likeness for good and encourage other college football players to do the same. He has helped raise over $500,000.00 to date for young people with special needs or suffering from cancer, needy youth and families, and even adults with ties to the football family who are struggling through debilitating injuries. The entire Gibbons family has helped him in this endeavor. Dillan was awarded the Wuerffel Trophy for his charitable works with his non-profit - Big Man Big Heart - while he was a student-athlete at Florida State and now works as an analyst at a private equity firm in Tampa.
